Claudia Lawrence disappeared in March 2009
A 59-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering missing chef Claudia Lawrence.
Miss Lawrence, who was 35 when she disappeared from her home in York in 2009, has not been found, North Yorkshire Police said.
A force spokesman said forensic examinations were being conducted and were expected to continue for several days.
Police said a car was seized and further arrests could not be ruled out.
Miss Lawrence, who lived in Heworth, worked at the University of York and had been due to start a shift at 06:00 on 19 March but failed to turn up.
She was reported missing by her father the following day.
Extensive searches of the area were made but she was not found and police have since treated her disappearance as murder.
North Yorkshire Police launched a review of the case last year and have carried out new forensic work and searches of Miss Lawrence's home
